6.1: Introduction to Database Maintenance
Once you start using ChessDB on databases which are edited frequently or grow as new games are added, it becomes important to perform regular database maintenance which is the name used in ChessDB to refer to such activities as removing unwanted games, correcting player names, and rearranging the order of games.
All these activities and others are explained in the following sections.
The Maintenance Window
The Maintenance Window has two purposes in ChessDB: it displays a brief statistical summary for the current database (the year range, the Elo rating range, etc), and provides quick access to the most commonly used maintenance functions. You can open the maintenance window from the File / Maintenance menu, the Ctrl+M keyboard shortcut, or the insert-picture-here toolbar icon.
